The most important places we come across are “Oran” where tobacco, sugar and fruit are produced; “Tartagal” where we find native settlements with their wooden, clay and woolen handcrafts. There is also Iruya which is a small native town hiding in the mountains. It is driven by its faith and various religious festivities take place here throughout the year. These festivities are full of prayers, pilgrimages, dances and songs. The visit to The Baritú National Park also stands out as this place was created in order to protect the wild life of the mountainous forest of “Las Yungas”. The park protects many endangered species like the “yaguareté” (a local jaguar). This area is also favorable for fishing in the “Alto Bermejo” and “Grande de Tarija” rivers.
