The South tour gives us a great knowledge about the history of the area as well as it dazzles us with its beauty.

It starts in Salta city towards “Metán”. On the way we go cross historical places such as “La Quebrada de Horqueta” where “Martin Miguel de Güemes”, an important hero of Argentina´s independence, was wounded and died; “El Fuerte de Cobos”, the first fort created in order to hold back the indigenous invasions; further on we arrive to “El Río Juramento” (The Oath River) where “Manuel Belgrano” pledged allegiance to the National Flag.

In the surroundings of this area there are many things to do like trekking in the “Creston” Hill of about 3700 meters above sea level, fishing in “El Tunal” dike and visiting the Jesuits ruins of “San Esteban de Miraflores” that date from the year 1600.

Some kilometers away form Metán we get to “La Posta de Yatasto”, a big old house that was declared a National Historical Monument, where an important meeting was hold by San Martín, Güemes y Belgrano (National heroes) in order to plan the strategies for the war against the Spanish Militia.

We then arrive to “Rosario de la Frontera”, a city famous for its thermal spring which offers relaxing thermal baths as well as mud baths and ferruginous steam therapy among others. There are other activities to do here as horse riding, photographic safaris and some flora and fauna watching.

One of the main visits is “El Parque Nacional El Rey”, which is a National Park of natural reserves that keeps intact its geographical features, its flora and fauna. The park is situated in the subtropical forests and it forms a natural greenhouse of thicken green vegetation.
